Adam Greenberg and Ben Biddick's New Book "Get Up: The Art of Perseverance

On July 9th, 2005, no one suspected the triumph of Adam Greenberg's first major-league plate appearance with the Chicago Cubs would be obliterated by an errant 92 mile-an-hour first-pitch fastball. He didn’t know it at the time, but that pitch was a gift. Now he offers his story of overcoming adversity and persevering through challenges in hopes of helping you pursue your dreams in life.

  • Testimonials

"Ben Biddick is one of the world’s most innovative thought leaders whose unparalleled vision and insight shows what is possible in our world. Forged from a relentless commitment to serve human beings to effectively emerge from suffering into health from early in his youth, Ben transcends the barriers that are so entrenched in our world. It doesn’t matter the age, gender, race, orientation, political affiliation, religious affiliation, trauma history, lack of trauma history, veteran or non-veteran..rural or urban…Ben finds the beauty and greatness of each person and brings it forth for all of us to learn and grow into our own beauty and greatness. He jolts us out of our tiny, common silos to recognize a greater reality of unity that exists between all people.

I am honored to partner with Ben, as he is one of the few people I have ever met, who has recognized and articulated that if we focus on the mental health of those who have experienced war and violence, that the solutions found there will ripple through our entire world in almost every facet of society. From abused, exploited, and neglected children to assisting people and families emerge from the trauma of poverty, to creating a world that effectively treats addiction, to ensuring organizations and systems of service take into account the full spectrum of human experience and human being during the processes of serving them instead of shuffling and shoving people through narrow and troubling programs impeded by financial greed and political posturing.

Where others draw back, intimidated and overwhelmed, Ben recognizes the immense opportunity and lunges us all forward. Ben is a global media leader who is taking us where we all want to go. Support him with your time, energy, and money. Help him accomplish his dream..."

"I'm a Clinical Psychotherapist who works with people with serious and persistent mental illness. I wanted to let you know that I have been asking some of my patients with lower than average resilience to listen to your podcasts for homework once they leave our psychotherapy sessions each week. I can confirm that after 2 months of feedback regarding the homework I had set, the majority of the people who listened to your interviews stated they were developing a more positive way of thinking, combined with a growing tool kit on which to buildup their own new resilience patterns. We now talk about the inspiring and empowering new ways they are practicing, developing, and implementing their own resilience skills, after having watched your YouTube videos. They are also enjoying hearing the amazing stories from the diverse range of podcast participants and asked me to thank you, all the way from Australia, for putting all of the interviews together. Please keep up your groundbreaking work, and know that you are helping many people across the world."

-Alyse Price-Tobler, Clinical Psychotherapist and Creator of the SEMPI Communication Model

"I have to say this...This is the first time I've done an interview, and I cried. So thank you for reminding me number one who I am because I'm not afraid to admit that but... giving me the opportunity to remember everything I've accomplished ... thank you, thank you so much I wish you amazing success."

    -Cappie Pondexter, WNBA Legend

"It's been a joy. Thank you, Ben, and deep bows to the good work you are doing.

    It's making a difference. I know that."

    -Linda Graham

Resilience Expert and Author of "Resilience" and "Bouncing Back: Rewiring Your Brain for Maximum Resilience and Well Being"

Ben Biddick is not only an amazing human being, but he is an incredible father, husband and now friend. Many months ago, Ben made a commitment to telling my life's story in a book we were writing together. Ben's dedication to the project is unparalleled. Ben's writing style was also perfect to help bring my story to life. That was the most important thing to him, making me happy and proud. No matter how many edits, or changes needed to be made, Ben made himself available and passionate through the finish line. I cannot say enough how proud I am for what we accomplished together. Introducing Ben to the most important people that have impacted my life was never a concern during the interview process. Ben handles himself with the same pride and dignity that he has served our country with in respecting my life and the relationships in my life. I'm proud to call Ben a member of my family.

-Adam Greenberg, former Major League Baseball player and CEO of www.lurongliving.com

"Being a woman I know that I immediately have to fight a little bit harder for anything I want professionally. Being a Latina means I need to work even harder than just being a woman, and so knowing that I'm doing something not just for me but for any Latina who comes after me or maybe even a contemporary Latina...that fuels me. Knowing that we've come far, and we still have a long journey ahead of us...this was such a pleasure, thank you so much. I really appreciate it, Ben."

-Marysol Castro, the first female Latina PA Announcer for the New York Mets and Creator & Host of www.somosonair.com

"To me personally going to the VA and sitting down with somebody who has been to Vietnam or Korea and just spend some time with them and ask them what American used to like...or what their experiences in combat were like... Those things are a national treasure... It's almost addictive to me to keep going to the VA and spend some time with these veterans... Thanks, Ben."

-Alejandro Villanueva, Pro Bowl Starting Left Tackle for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Combat Veteran sharing how he and Richard "Buzz" Bryan humbly serve veterans without fanfare on the Get Up Nation Podcast

"I had the pleasure and honor of being a guest on the Get Up Nation Podcast a few weeks ago and my episode went live today. Sharing this kind of stuff with the world or at least with my world has never been an easy task. You guys would be surprised if you could see how nervous I get when exposing the real rawness of my heart with the masses. However, my mind was put at ease after listening to the episode. I am so proud and thankful for how it turned out. Thank you so much, Ben Biddick, and to the Get Up Nation Podcast for contributing to the change our culture so desperately needs by making grief and the REAL hard parts of life okay to talk about. We are not alone in this world. Every passerby has an entire story, a life filled with struggles of their own."

"I really do sincerely hope that all the answers we've spoken to today will inspire someone I've never met to get up and to volunteer... My goodness man the pleasure is all mine. I appreciate you so very much. Thank you so much for taking your time. This has been epic. I'm still wiping tears from my eyes. You can probably hear it in my voice... Thank you so, so much."

"Thank you so much! I appreciate it! It was fun!"

-Dr. Stacy Drury, MD, PhD, Tulane Dept of Pediatrics, Tulane Brain Institute

"That's it. Who would've ever thought that something that happened in Southwest Baltimore at a barber shop could be the birthplace for something greater to help? Everyone keeps saying 'What's the solution to this problem right now?' I have one of the answers. We have to take back our community... We must step up and be responsible in our community. We can't wait for the government. We can't wait for public assistance or policy. We ARE public assistance. We ARE policy. We have to bring forth community. We have to bring forth accountability, and how we do that starts in barber shops and beauty salons where people are talking... where the elders is telling the younger people listen you can't do this.... We ARE the programs. The programs are individuals that speak. I'm living proof of it... I believe in solutions over problems... Food desserts. Information desserts. Job training. Providing people with a lifestyle and a way of living by taking care of themselves...giving them a job at a barbershop, addressing the social and economic issues with mental illness... Let's not talk about it. Lets be about it. It ain't about talking. It's about showing. Thank you very much for having me. It was an honor. You ever come this way--let's sit down, let's get down."
